Seasons at WJV: 11 years with WJV, 3 years as JVC Director

Coaching Experience: 2019 AVCA 16s Club Coach of the Year. Assistant Coach UW-Parkside, Former Head Volleyball Coach at Alverno College. Former Head Golf Coach at Alverno College. Former Head Boys Volleyball Coach at Union Grove High School where he was honored as 2016 SLC Coach of the Year. Also, coached at Park High School and Union Grove for girls volleyball. Coached overseas at Durham University in England where he was the CoHead Coach.

Playing Experience: Attended Park High School in Racine, WI where he played Men’s Volleyball. Played club for Great Lakes VBC, Next Level and WJV Boys. Attended Quincy University in Quincy, IL where he was a setter and is ranked 4th in program history in Assists. Post graduation, played overseas at Durham University and Newcastle, England as a setter.

Education and Career: Assistant Volleyball Coach at UW-Parkside in Kenosha, WI. Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, Quincy University, IL, ‘10. Master of Arts in Business Management, Durham University, Durham, England.

Family: Lives in Oak Creek, WI and has a dog named Neko.

Cayla Gutche

Seasons at WJV: 2nd Season at WJV

Playing Experience: Former WJV Athlete for 4 years. Current Sophomore Student-Athlete at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside as a defensive specialist. 3-year Varsity Player at Burlington High School where she was a two-time State Champion. Was also a setter at all levels of her career. 2x JVA Athleader Award Nominee. 

Coaching Experience: 2 years of club coaching experience at Burlington Elite and 1 year at WJV. 5 years as a camp coach at multiple levels. 

Education and Career: 2020 Graduate of Burlington High School. Attending the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and pursuing her degree in Nursing. Current CNA at a nursing home. 

Favorite Sports Memory: Serving game point in the 2017 Division 1 State Championship. This is my favorite memory because it was the fifth set and we had come back from a 3 point deficit. It was a very nerve-wracking moment, however, because we worked so hard in practice prior to that moment, I trusted in my team and we won the final point.

Coaching Experience: Varsity Volleyball Head Coach at Lakes High School, Freshman boys volleyball head coach at Carmel Catholic HS - 3 years, Varsity Girls Volleyball head coach at Carmel Catholic HS- 3 years, Varsity Boys Volleyball head coach at Carmel Catholic HS- 3 years, Junior High Head volleyball coach at both St. Bede and Prince of Peace Catholic School- 7 years, Ran and directed numerous summer camps for high school and k-8 programs, 3rd season at WJV, Head coach of 16 elite last season

Playing Experience: High School- Carmel Catholic High School- OH, Club- Sky High - OH, College- South Dakota State University-DS

Education and Career: Bachelor of Science at South Dakota State University. Major- Consumer Affairs. Currently a Real Estate Broker for Coldwell Banker

Maddy Dokken

Maddy Dokken

Seasons at WJV: 1st season

Coaching Experience: I have coached various summer volleyball camps for my high school all the way from my freshman year into this past summer.

Playing Experience: I played high school volleyball at SPASH (Stevens Point Area Senior High School), and I was on varsity my sophomore, junior, and senior year. I was a defensive specialist my sophomore year, a middle my junior year, and a 6-rotation outside my senior year. I played club at Wisconsin Ice Volleyball from age 12-18, always being on the top team for my age division. I played a variation of pin hitters and defensive positions all of my years, also being a middle my junior year. I am currently a sophomore on the volleyball team at UW-Parkside and I am a Libero!

Education and Career: I obtained my high school diploma at SPASH and I am currently at UW-Parkside, with the plan to double major in biology and psychology. From those degrees, I plan to become a genetic counselor.

Awards & Accolades: As a high school player, I received WVC Honorable Mention All-Conference my junior year as a middle, and as a senior in high school, I earned WVC Unanimous First-Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All State. I also won the "Team First" award my junior year at SPASH for stepping into the role as a middle for the first time ever. My senior year I was named "MVP" of my team. I also helped my team win our conference my junior and senior year.

Family: I am from Stevens Point, but I am currently living on campus at UW-Parkside. I also love my family! They are so supportive and I would not be where I am without them!

Favorite Sports Memory: One of my favorite sports memories was winning back-to-back high school conference titles after not winning conference in 17 years. Another one of my favorite sports memories was going to the GLIAC conference tournament this past year.

Matt Catanus
